The worldwide market for social software and collaboration in the workplace is expected to grow from an estimated $2.7 billion in 2018 to $4.8 billion by 2023, nearly doubling in size, according to Gartner, Inc. One of the primary reasons for its increase is the use of collaboration software in the modern workplace, that’s steadily interconnecting the growing routine work.
Digital workers turn to tools that are common in their personal lives to get their everyday work done, thus replicating the same practices in the workplace. Nowadays, real-time mobile messaging is quite common in support of enterprise endeavors, as are social media and file-sharing tools.
Zippi by PeopleStrong is a Work collaboration tool that helps businesses in planning and execution while bringing people together through Workgroup, where they can converse, create tasks, goals, polls, appreciate each other, share documents and location, and reap the benefits of a chatbot.
Here, I want to share how to use threaded conversations effectively and turn conversations into action.
Threaded messages are a list of messages that roll up to the main message/parent message in a group or individual setting. They help to:
- Never lose message trail – Messages are allocated to the respective receiver from the sender, ensuring an extended message trail. Hence no-slip assured!
Example– #Wecareintiative update is required from Amandeep, therefore tagging him to the threaded conversation:
-
- Stay Focused– Filtering the messages that one needs to focus on, as an individual or a team.
Example: Sheetal Bhat has reverted to Rajat Setia’s GIF image saying “Great!”, from a long chain of messages, focusing on only one.
- Stay Focused– Filtering the messages that one needs to focus on, as an individual or a team.
- Tag people– You can use the “@” feature to tag a respective person and draw their attention to a specific task.
Example– In the conversation bar, type @ and tag the person whose attention you want to draw and present in your Workgroup.
- # “hashtags” your goals- With #, talking about specific goals becomes easy and can be used in various ways example: #EmployeeExperience for HR initiatives, #Meditation for wellness groups, #1millionUSD for Sales goals, etc. You can mention specific goals/objectives you need to focus upon and direct the conversation.
Example– I congratulate Adrian on the launch of the HR tech market map 2020 and choose the Goals which were defined while creating the group!
- Quick Document Sharing- If the team or an individual wants to discuss a specific document- Contract, Policy, Process, etc. They can attach it via- Gallery, camera, documents and the conversation can converge towards that specific topic.
Example– Attach the documents through- Camera, Gallery, or document attachment option in a threaded message.
- Easy location sharing– If you are on your way to a client meeting and you want to share a Restaurant location with your team for lunch, quick location sharing capabilities is the feature to look out for.
Example– Share the location using Google location on your threaded message by clicking on the + bar on the bottom left of the screen.
- Connect OneDrive– If you have a Business account that runs on Microsoft Office 365, with the right access controls defined by the IT team, you can manage documents sharing on a workgroup effectively!
Example– Share the documents via the Onedrive link if your organization uses Microsoft office 365.
To conclude, threads are an awesome utility for employees in a workgroup setting, enabling them to take charge of their day to day tasks at work and manage them with ease.
